Below liquid silica gel manufacturers to teach you how to correctly choose a silicone rubber gasket
1. Temperature: The gasket selected should have a reasonable service life at the highest or lowest operating temperature. As mentioned earlier, in order to maintain the seal under operating conditions, the gasket material should be resistant to creep to reduce gasket stress relaxation. Most gasket materials do not undergo significant creep at room temperature, but creep becomes severe as temperatures rise (above 100 ° C) except for most metal gaskets. Therefore, the easiest way to distinguish the quality of gaskets is the creep relaxation performance of gaskets at different temperatures. In addition to the highest or lowest operating temperature that can be tolerated for a short time, consideration should be given to the temperature at which continuous operation is allowed, usually below the highest operating temperature and above the lowest operating temperature.
2. Pressure: Gasket must bear large working pressure. This pressure may be the test pressure, as it may be 1.25 to 1.5 times the maximum working pressure. For gaskets of non-metallic materials, due to its P×T value has a limit value, so when selecting the maximum working pressure, the highest working temperature that gaskets can withstand should be considered, especially saturated water vapor. The higher the steam pressure, the higher the steam temperature will be. Special consideration should also be given to gaskets for vacuum operation. For general vacuum (760 ~ 1Torr) (1Torr=133.322Pa), rubber or rubber-bonded fiber compression gaskets can be used; For higher vacuum (1 ~ 1×10-7 TORr) rubber O-ring or rectangular molding seal can be used; For very high vacuums (above 1×10-7 TORr), special sealing materials and construction are required.
3. Safety: if sealing highly toxic chemicals, gaskets are required to have greater safety. For example, for the liquefied gas system, it is better to choose the wound gasket, and it is appropriate to choose the form of outer ring, so that it has higher blowing resistance. In addition, the oil refinery, there are fire protection requirements. For example, for piping systems carrying flammable liquids, non-metallic gaskets are used on full plane or face flanges for maximum service pressure of 5Mpa and maximum service temperature of 400℃.
4. Economy: although the gasket is relatively cheap, the quality, type and material of the gasket should be considered when choosing the material loss caused by leakage, shutdown loss and the economic consequences caused by major damage, and the performance and price ratio of the gasket should be considered comprehensively
5. Other considerations There are many factors that influence the selection of gasket materials and structural forms
(1) Cyclic load if there are frequent fluctuations in temperature and pressure, the gasket must have sufficient resilience.
(2) Vibration If the pipeline vibrates, the gasket must be able to withstand repeated high cyclic stresses.
(3) Wear some medium containing suspended particles will wear gasket, so as to shorten the service life of gasket.
If the sealing medium is drinking water, plasma, drugs, food, beer, etc., we should consider the chemical pollution medium of gasket materials, PTFE or rubber and other materials in accordance with the requirements of food and medical health.
